Register:Theory and Its Applications

As an important component of the Systemic Functional Grammar,register,which originated from Malinowsky's idea about context,embraces field,tenor and mode.The paper discusses the background and definition of register,function and the scope of its application and finds that the theory is a highly practical one in various areas and such practicality lives up to the philosophy of the Systemic Functional Grammar.
