According to the reaction mechanism of epoxide groups which are in the chain of styrene-acrylic latex with paper fibers, the PSMG and PSBG were successfully prepared. And it formed covalent bond between epoxide groups and fibers.e condition of polymerization can be optimized by studying on basic monomers, emulsifiers and functional monomer, whose dosage affect the paper properties.e results showed that TEM characterization proves the formation of the emulsion particles, which were with coreshell structure.e paper properties are better with adding in styrene-acrylic latex, which are prepared with styrene (St) and butyl methacrylate (MBA) as basic monomers. When the amount of KPS was 0.15 g (about 0.22% of weight of whole monomers),the paper properties were in the maximum value. In order to obtain relative higher wet strength, the dosage of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) was 20% based on whole monomers.
