The Combining Ability of Main Agronomic Traits about Six New Sweet Corn Inbred Lines

Six new sweet corn inbred lines are selected as tested lines,and 5 elite inbred lines as testing ones in this examination.The genetic parameters of the groups and the combing ability of eight agronomic traits among thirty crosses are tested and analyzed by means of NCⅡ design.The results show that TM-2,TM-4 and TM-6 have better general combining ability performance in most traits,so they can be used to cross with other lines to obtain good sweet corn combinations.Four excellent combinations,that is,TM-2×TF-4,TM-3×TF-2,TM-6×TF-1 and TM-6×TF-3,are obtained.Based on genetic parameter of eight traits it is found that some traits(plant height,ear height,ear length,kernel per ear and weight per ear) have higher heritability in broad and narrow sense,so they can be selected in early generation while other traits are fit for selection in later generation.
