With the rise of smart grid, integration of large-scale new energy increases the uncertainty of power system operation. In order to research the impact of wind power on the grid blackout, the cascading failure search mode is proposed based on the operational reliability model of transmission lines and protection,as well as output change of wind units and system operating conditions. In addition, assessment method and indicators of cascading failure operational risk are further proposed based on utility theory.Taking IEEE-RTS 79 system as an example, risk indicators under different integration solutions are calculated to assess the impacts of wind power penetration, integration schemes and wind's randomness on cascading failures of transmission system. The research results can provide scientific basis and references to grid planning and operation and defending blackouts for grid integrated with wind farms.
