A Research on the MAC Protocol for QoS Support in Ad Hoc Networks

Quality-of-Service(QoS) supported in wireless Ad Hoc networks is very difficult because of the inherent characteristics of sharing channel,mobility and distributed multi-hop.The literature on the QoS supported MAC protocols falls in two categories:synchronous and asynchronous protocols.These protocols have the following problems,i.e.,rough granularity of services differentiation,the lack of schemes of network saturation control,fairness and synchronization.The QoS-aware MAC protocol in Ad Hoc networks needs improvements in services differentiation,admission control scheme,resource reservation and allocation scheme,QoS maintenance mechanism.
