Content-based fractal image compression system

The background often does not change and only the foreground objects change in a small video.Therefore,in this paper we combine the content-based method,which is a concept of video compression new standard MPEG-4,with fractal video compression method and put forward a new compression algorithm,which is called content-based fractal video compression method.In this algorithm,the foreground objects and background are divided and then compressed separately.We only need to compress one or several background of key frames.Expermental results show that while keeping the quality of decompressed images,the proposed algorithm greatly improves the image compression ratio which the background accounts for a considerable proportion of the image.
