The Design of Pot Plants Soil Moisture Monitoring and Automatic Watering System

Wang Li-zhon · Jilin Normal University Journal · 2015

A pot plants watering system which was automatically controlled in accordance with soil humidity and provided with an LCD display was designed based on single chip microcomputer. According to the signal collected by the humidity sensor, the humidity of the soil was automatically controlled by single chip microcomputer. The lower and upper limits were set based on the moisture required by plants. No watering was needed when the humidity was higher than the upper limit. If the humidity was lower than the lower limit,a water lack would be signaled by the humidity sensor, and then the water pump would be driven to properly water the plants under different conditions. Dripping irrigation method was used in the watering equipment, which was helpful for the moisture absorbing by soil and the uniformity of watering. A timer was used to automatically detect the humidity at regulate time,so as to ensure the plants timely provided with adequate water, and thus provided a good environment for the growth of pot plants.
