Because the standarad Transport control protocol can not distinguish the reason of packet loss and long time's delay for slow start,TCP performance over satellite network will be deteriorated much if standars TCP is directly applied on the satellite network.Firstly, factors that affect TCP performance over satellite is analyzed in this paper, and then additional technologies that shoulded be added to the standard TCP to alleviate the negative influences are conclued. Methods of improving TCP performance over satellite network are also discussed.Research directions of TCP performance over satellite network are pointed out lastly.
