Measurement and matching of human vein pattern characteristics

This paper presents a new biometric identification technique based on human vein patterns to overcome the shortcoming of the fingerprint identification system. The hand vein images were obtained optically with the images then normalized and enhanced to extract features and matching the patterns. The matching with 65 samples had a zero false acceptance rate while the flase rejection rate was 4.6%. The results show the effectiveness of the hand vein pattern identification system which has a promising future.
