Lossless Fingerprint Image Compression Coling Based on Block Directional Information

Cai An-ni · Jisuanji gongcheng · 2002

In this paper, a lossless image compression based on block direction prediction is presented, according to the strong direction performance of the fingerprint image. In the proposed method, a fingerprint image is firstly partitioned into 8×8 blocks, and the block directions of each image block are calculated. Then a direction predictor is adaptively selected for each block. After that, the context model is applied to further remove the correlation between neighbor pixels. At last, the Rice coderis applied for the residual image coding. The experimental results show that the proposed method is a simple and practical algorithm, and it outperforms over JPEG lossless mode and JPEG-LS.
