A Modified Approach for SWAN in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Cai Lijin · Jisuanji fangzhen · 2008

When the Stateless Wireless Ad Hoc Networks (SWAN) is applied to mobile Ad Hoc networks, the results of simulation using ns-2 simulator show that the performance of packet delivery ratio and throughput of real-time traffic is improved about 15% and that of average end to end delay decreases about 90%, while the performance of packet delivery ratio and average end to end delay of best-effort traffic degrade. In order to change this situation, a new rate control scheme named enhanced stateless wireless Ad Hoc networks (ESWAN) is presented. The results of simulation demonstrate that the ESWAN enhances the performance of not only real-time traffic but also the best-effort traffic compared with the SWAN, where the performance of the best-effort traffic of packet delivery ratio increases about 5% and that of average end to end delay decreases 38%.
