On the Asymmetry between Argument and Theta Structures

In the framework of the generative grammar,we adopt the fundamental assumption that morphological rules may change the argument structure of a base-generated predicate,absorbing or suppressing part of its theta roles.The article aims to briefly illustrates the asymmetry from the perspective of the PP,EPP,Quasi-Argument Hypothesis,θ-role Transmission and the Checking Theory.
