Measurement for Upward Masking of Narrowband Noise with Chinese Speech Spectrum
Shang Na · Audio Engineering · 2014
An experimental measurement for upward masking of Chinese speech- liked noise between adjacent octave bands is described, and the result is compared with the upward masking pattern of low- frequency band noise used in speech transmission index. The experiment results show that when the sound pressure level of masker is fixed, the masking slope will be varied as the difference of masker's frequency. When the frequency of masker is fixed, there is an increasing but not obvious trend for masking slope, the value keeps between 30 ~ 35 d B / octave, which is quite different from the magnitude used in STI algorithm.
