Node deployment strategy in line wireless sensor networks

One of the biggest challenges is to prolong the lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) for designing and deploying WSNs.Since the nodes energy is limited,nodes usually transmit data to the base station by multi-hop.This paper analyses energy consumption in WSNs to propose a non-uniform deployment strategy,which obtains a density function to deploy sensor nodes and deploys more nodes in area closer to the base station.Simulation results show that the strategy is effective for prolonging the network lifetime.
