As a new domain of networks, wireless sensor networks (WSN) differ from traditional networks in that the networks have a large number of unattended sensor nodes working in dynamic circumstance. The prominent challenges in WSN are energy constraint and dynamic circumstance. According to this, resource optimization for longer lifetime is the object in WSN design. The optimization issue in WSN deployment, task allocation, information processing, and localization is summarized in the paper. Some details are discussed respectively. Furthermore, the future work is presented.
