QuickBird remote sensing image with high spatial resolution has been used in many fields. However, the image is frequently corrupted by noises, especially by the impulsive noise during the process of acquisition and transmission,so as to affects its successive applications. The purpose of this study is to present a method for detecting and removing the impulsive noise from QuickBird remote sensing image based on modified median filter. At the first stage,one-dimensional Laplacian operators and augmentation function were used to detect noise corrupted pixels. At the second stage, vector median filter(VMF) was used to restore the noise corrupted pixels.Experimental results indicate that the presented algorithm performs better than the other existing well-known median filtering methods in terms of noise removal.
