A forward-looking runway recognition algorithm in complex environment

This paper presents a method using adaptive image segmentation and partial hough transform to recognize runway in complex environment.We extract interest regions based on visual character to reduce processing range of image.After extracted the contour of these regions we use partial hough transform to detect runway border to overcome the drawback of hough transform used in the whole image,which is difficult to alocate the start and end point of a line,and may bring false line dection,and expend much time to calculator.The experiments show that this method can make runway recognition real-time in complex environment and higher accuracy.
