Modeling and theoretical analysis of heat and mass transfer of liquid droplet in finite gas volume

Xuan Chen · Journal of Naval University of Engineering · 2010

A heat and mass transfer model for liquid droplet in the finite high-temperature gas volume was established based on the basic theories of heat and mass transfer. The dynamic heat and mass transfer process of liquid droplet in the finite high-temperature gas volume was numerically simulated according to the above model. An analysis was made of the effects of the finite gas volume and the gas initial temperature on the droplet diameter, evaporation velocity and evaporation efficiency. The results indicate that, under the finite gas volume conditions, the law of droplet diameter varying with time is obviously different from the classical d2-law and that the smaller the gas volume is,the slower the droplet evaporates and the smaller the droplet′s evaporation efficiency is;the higher the gas initial temperature is,the faster the droplet evaporates and the higher the droplet′s evaporation efficiency is.
