Application of XML technology to electronic commerce systems

Information exchange is one of main issues of e commerce system. Due to the unique characteristic on separating data content from its presentation, XML will be among the key techniques for next generation e commerce system. This paper first introduced the key elements and advantages of XML technique. By means of XML based data exchange technique, a three-tier architecture of e commerce application system was given and its theory was described in detail. Along with the overall architecture, its implementation was illustrated by a practical system. And finally the application prospects of XML were briefly presented.
