The battlefield situation assessment is the basis for decision-making,Dempster-Shafer evidence theory is widely used for approximate reasoning under uncertainty, and it plays an important role especially in the battlefield situation assessment. In order to reduce the uncertainty of compound focal elements of propositions, probability transformation methods such as Pignistic methods are adopted to transform these focal elements into single focal elements with reduced uncertainty. When there is a proposition whose Basic Belief Assignment(BBA)bba equals to zero,it is impossible for some conventional probability conversion method to solve the problem. And even if it can be addressed through some probability conversion methods,it's not ideat in reducing the uncertainty after the transformation. In this paper, the usage of HDSmP transformation method is put forward to approximate a belief function into a probability measure, which not only solve the situation where there are propositions whose belief values equal to zero in the discernment framework, but it also reduce uncertainty of the proposition. In addition, the analysis of the proportional redistribution factor(ratio)in HDSmP method is presented. Finally, the feasibility and practicability of the method are illustrated through examples of the battlefield situation.
