A PRML System for the Run Length Detection of the Multi-Level Optical Storage

A PRML detector is developed for the run length of a multi-level DVD system in this paper.The code of multilevel optical storage system is studied and simplified.The purpose of the simplification is to reduce the path of the Viterbi detector.Some proper coefficients of target PR and memory length are given.The Viterbi arithmetic is described and simulated. After comparing the Viterbi arithmetic and the traditional arithmetic,the advantage of Viterbi detector is realized.
