Emulsifying of Silicone with Hydrophobic and Hydrophilic Groups and Application in Leather as Hand Feeling Agent

The modified silicone with hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups was emulsified with Span80 and HUANGMA 1380 mixed emulsifiers,and the amount of mixed emulsifiers and the stable condition of the emulsion were investigated.The stable emulsion of modified silicone was applied to treating the surface of leather.It can be resulted that when the proper HLB value of emulsifying the modified silicone was 10.4;the amount of mixed emulsifier was 25% of the modified silicone;dimethoxy-ethane was a good coemulsifier and the proper amount of it was 2% of the modified silicone,and the stable emulsion can be obtained.After the emulsion of the modified silicone with hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups was used in treating the surface of leather,the leather was soft and extremely lubricating,and appeared natural and gentle luster.
