A Novel Hybrid Search Pattern Algorithm Based on MPEG4

A novel hybrid search pattern algorithm on MPEG4 is proposed. According to the result of initial search point prediction, a non-regular hexagon search pattern is applied to the video sequences with large motion vectors, while a diamond search pattern is applied to the video sequences with small motion vectors. The experimental results justify that the proposed algorithm can reduce the computation complexity as well as maintain the image quality.
