Research on Modeling Method for Marine GIS Applications

In order to improve the efficiency of analysis on marine geography information system(GIS),and make the models be more sententious and get more domain characteristics,this paper defined an object oriented modeling language UML-M(Unified Modeling Language-Marine) for marine GIS by UML and its extension mechanism,based on the analysis of GIS modeling by other scholars.It described the meta-model of UML-M,and also researched the representation method of spatial object and spatial relation using UML-M,which including simple spatial object,coverage object,complex spatial object and spatial-temporal object.Finally,it has been proved that UML-M can be efficiently used in marine GIS by analysis on cases.
