MPLS-VPN functional characteristics

MPLSVPN is simply a VPN(Virtual Private Network),which uses MPLS(MultiProtocol LabelSwitching) technology in the backbone to forward the packets. All the advantages of MPLS are highlyillustrated in the MPLSVPN.By the independency of VRF(VPN Routing/Forwarding) table,the independancyof the flow between VPNs of MPLSVPN is realized,and by proper mapping IPV4 address into VPNIPV4address,MPLSVPN solves the problem of using nonunique addresses between VPNs.In MPLSVPN,forwarding of the packets is based on the VRF table and label switching technologies;the latter is used in MPLS domain,i.e.backbone.The formation procedure of the VRF table and the function of the extended community attributes in packet forwarding are discussed.
