Lightning surge voltage is higher amplitude,gradient transient voltage which transformers often meet.Many distrubition transformers are still broken by lightning under lightning protection measures.The transformers can be subjected to transient voltage besides operational voltage for a long period.Though the applied time of the transient voltage is short,the amplitude is high,and they are not uniformly distributed on the transformer windings,thus having serious threat.The simulation analysis for the transformer chopping overvoltage based on simple pattern is carried out.
