Research and Simulation of EVRC Algorithm

To solve the waste of single rate speech coding algorithm for system capacity and channel utilization,the third generation mobile telecommunication system employs variable rate speech coding technologies.This paper introduces an Enhanced Variable Rate Codec(EVRC) used in the third generation mobile telecommunication system,describes the EVRC speech encoding and decoding principle,with emphasis on the technology of EVRC,such as noise suppression,rate decision algorithm,frame error detection,as well as adaptive post filter.Then it gives the result of the floating point Csimulation,and the result shows higher synthesized speech quality for lower average speech coding rate.
