An Algorithm for Semantic Similarity Based on Context

Gang Wu · Microcomputer Information · 2008

Concept similarity measurement is the key of concept mapping of the ontology. Against the existing problem of the concept similarity measurement in the paper, a semantic similarity algorithm based on context was brought forward, which calculated the concept similarity of parent and child ones in the ontology. The specific environment of concepts was considered fully, and the algorithm made use of the semantic information of concepts. The experiment shows that, context-based semantic similarity algorithm is more effective than simple calculating the similarity between the concept and another.
