Hierarchical palmprint identification based on gabor filter and LBP

This paper first presents a new method of palmprint identification by using Local Binary Pattern(LBP).By referring to hierarchical retrieval,Gabor filter is first used to extract the global energy feature,and then LBP operator is used to extract the local feature,which are used to classify twice.The experiment result shows that the identification rate can be improved further by comparison with the method of using Gabor filter only.
