Researching and Implementing of Flow Control Algorithm in Video on Demand System

In order to ensure the quality of the VOD(Video-On-Demand) system,this dissertation has shown a research work on streaming media network communication technology with flow control functions.Based on deeply discussed structure and analyzing the demand of the client and server,the dynamic buffering algorithm based on client-control and the rate control algorithms based on sever control are proposed within this paper,the dynamic buffer of the system is designed by using the double-buffer model.The client can automatically change the size of the buffer according to the network status.The study and design of rate control algorithm has been given.The result indicates that the system ability to control streaming media has been enhanced.The flow control functions were realized and system QoS(Quality of Service) has therefore been improved
