Schedule-based sensor MAC protocol in wireless sensor networks

The paper proposed a schedule-based sensor MAC protocol(SSMAC) for wireless sensor networks.The protocol was distributed contention-based access and schedule-based transmission.It could provide energy-efficient channel access,support quality-of-service(QoS) and solve the hidden-and exposed-terminal problems much better.Simulations show that the new protocol which can also save energy has better performance in decreasing medium access delay,increasing packet delivery ratio and supporting QoS than TRAMA protocol.
