Prevention of Repetitive Downloading in P2P File Sharing System

The difference in file name frequently causes that the same file is repetitively downloaded by one peer in P2P file-sharing system.In order to reduce repetitive downloading in P2P file-sharing system,this paper proposes that the whole file and partition of the file should be processed with Message-Digest Algorithm 5 before downloaded.The peer can decide whether to download the file by comparing the hash code through MD5.In this way,the repetitive downloading can be effectively prevented.Analysis and analog experiment with MATLAB software indicates that the method can raise the efficiency of file-downloading.
