Research on Computer Image Processing of Breast Cancer

The detection methods of microcalcifications in the digital mammograms are studied. A synthetic processing method that exploits the good qualities of several techniques such as difference image technique, wavelet transform, artificial neural network was proposed and tested with 10 mammograms (244 microcalcifications). The tested results show that the synthetic method is not only simple, but also can achieve a relatively high true positive rate (93 0 0) with a lower false positive which is much better than the results when only one of the above mentioned techniques is used.
