OLAP Technology and Its Application in SQL SERVER 2000

How to use the mass bunch of data collected by OLTP system to do analysis and decision-making will be the main point in the implementation of the next-generation database systems. By using muti-dimension view via data cube and extended SQL by rotating and slicing operation on the cube, can make better use of these data. Here discusses the basic concept of on line analysis process, the difference between OLAP and OLTP and relative technology to implement OLAP in detail. Also gives examples to use OLAP service provided by SQL server 2000. At last, pointed out the trend in the OLAP study is the combination of data mining and OLAP.
