For most of sci-tech journals in China, the full-color printing has not been realized in print edition and there has been no black and white dot line graphics filling function in Microsoft Office Excel 2007. We apply a Pattern UI. xlam plug-in software to fulfill the black and white dot line graphics filling function in Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and thus editorial staff can easily modify the diagrams in Word 2007 by clicking the column chart in the Excel2007. The editing and processing of graphics in sci-tech journals can be improved by using this method.
