Research on GPS Signal Acquisition Based on CORDIC Algorithm

GPS signal acquisition is the first step in baseband signal processing of GPS receiver.To estimate initial phase of pseudo code and carrier frequency are two basic and important tasks.In some special environment,indoor,urban street and woods,the task becomes challenging.High frequency estimation accuracy is effective in solving this problem by decreasing frequency error loss which high accuracy trades off huge computation burden.In this paper CORDIC algorithm is employed in software based GPS receiver which aims at accelerating computation.After principle of GPS signal acquisition is introduced,necessity and availability of CORDIC in GPS receiver is presented.Simulation is carried out to testify effectiveness of such novel application.
