Novel approach to the survivor memory in Viterbi decoder

Management of the memory in a Viterbi decoder and its hardware and software realization are crucial problems.The different way of implementation can influence the performance of the decoder.In this paper,a new survivor memory management method is proposed.Compared to traditional register-exchange and trace-back methods,the main advantages of this method lie in less memory and little decoding delay.
