Current research mostly focuses on functional analysis of composite services. However, the issue of how to analyze and evaluate performance of composite services has largely been overlooked. A new PEPA based method for composite service performance modeling and evaluation is presented, which could be used to analyze and evaluate service composition scheme in the stage of system analysis. Firstly, a service composition graph based method is suggested to analysis interactive behaviors among atomic services in a composite service. Isomorphic relation of a composite services and a PEPA mode is proved subsequently. Next, the mapping rule of composite service and PEPA is presented, and performance models of composite service are built. Finally, the whole methods and steps of performance modeling and analysis of composite services are introduced in detail. A case study verifies that the suggested method is more simple, effective and suitable to engineering experience.
