Tracking Low Elevation Targets with the Interacting Multiple Model Algorithm

Han Xing · Fire Control and Command Control · 2003

In the context of tracking low elevation targets with radar, the multipath propagation would cause acute errors in the elevation angle measurement of the targets. And the measure errors with larger variance are correlated in time.To improve the performance of tracking low elevation targets, the Interacting Multiple Model(IMM) algorithm is proposed in this paper. And a simple decorrelation process is presented due to the correlation of the measure errors. At last the computer simulations based on several scenarios show the performance of the algorithm.
