Analysis of atorvastatin patent application in China

This paper introduced research status of atorvastatin and to put forward the ideas of drug development.Information of atorvastatin patent application was collected from patent database of national patent information centre.We classify the information according to year,country,applicant nature and patent type,and statistically analyze the gathered data.Our country starts the research of atorvastatin relatively late;the patent quality of atorvastatin is low;and the patent technology of atorvastatin is mainly concentrated in Pfizer and Teva.The patent type is an important classification item,which can be used to determine the competitiveness of relative patent technology qualitatively and guide domestic drug development.
