Analysis on the Methods of Converting Thesauri into Ontology

Traditional thesauri greatly facilitate the construction of Ontology because of the rich vocab-ulary and clear semantic structure.Through the comprehensive analysis and survey of literature about converting thesauri into Ontology both in domestic and abroad,this paper classifies the different methods,and analyzes these features from the languages of description,the manners of conversion and the ways of adjusting the thesauri.And on the base of the above work,the paper also discusses the appropriate methods by which the thesauri of different characteristics use based on the scale,standardization and rigidness of semantic relationships of the thesauri when converting into Ontology.
