Implementation of an Itanium2-Based Cluster System and Its Application

In this paper,based on the Itanium-2 CPU,a cluster computing system is designed and implemented.In order to utilize the merits of the cluster system and avoid its demerits,a parallel software for meteorological applications is optimized on I/O,communication cost,computation cost and the cache utilization of communication data,considering the characteristics of Itanium-2 and the cluster system.The test result indicates that this cluster system is suitable for the efficient parallel computing of the parallel software for meteorological applications.
