A English-Chinese Translation Model of Idioms Based on Prototype Theory

By taking advantage of prototype theory,the idioms with the same conceptual basis and different conceptual basis in the two languages are analyzed from the cognitive perspective.A model is proposed for the English-Chinese translation of idioms based on conceptual basis,surface form and semantics in each language.Each of the seven categories in the model is discussed with the assistance of corpora,which is to provide best solutions in the choice of translation techniques.
