Research on Hybrid Software Architecture of GIS——Illustrated by the Water Resources Integrative Planning Information System (WIPIS) of Guangdong Province

This paper puts forward three-tier hybrid architecture based on the C/S software architecture and B/S software architecture by making a comparison between C/S and B/S software architecture. The Water Resources Integrative Planning Information System (WIPIS) of Guangdong Province is the typical application of such three-tier hybrid architecture. This system is based on MapObjects component, accesses spatial database through Software ArcSDE and distributes the spatial data by ArcIMS. And it may be used as a reference for the development and improvement of other information systems.
