Analysis on characteristics of spatial-temporal precipitation distribution based on cloud model
Liu De-di · Journal of Hydraulic Engineering · 2009
The cloud model was introduced to study the spatial-temporal precipitation distribution. The concept of cloud was explained and the algorithms for cloud generator and backward cloud generator were given. The model was applied to analyze the spatial-temporal precipitation distribution of the Dongjiang river basin according to the observation data of 57 hydrological stations from 1956 to 2000.The analysis result shows that the stability of precipitation is best in flood season and is less in dry season. The stability of annual precipitation is the worst. The spatial distribution is more dispersive and unstable than the temporal distribution but the dispersion tends to decrease and stability tends to elevate in this period. It is concluded that the cloud model is effective and capable of directly analyzing the characteristics of precipitation distribution.
