Fast Intra Prediction Algorithm of H.264/AVC Based on Canberra Distance

A fast intra prediction algorithm is proposed in this paper.The adjacent pixels in macroblock are used to determine the type of macroblock,and the best mode is selected from Intra_4×4 and Intra_16×16.For the Intra_4×4,Canberra distance is used to extract the direction of texture and to select the best mode of Intra_4×4.Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve remarkable computational reduction while maintaining similar PSNR and bit rate performance.
