A Method to Pick up Fractures Automatically in Imaging Logging

The picking of geological characters such as fractures,holes and textures is one of the most important works on imaging log interpretation,which is always in sinusoid characteristics.At present,the fracture picking work is done by artificial way in most software.It brings large workload with big error,especially for deep well.Put forward is a method to pick up sinusoid curves automatically in imaging logging.The fractures and image background could be separated by image processing technique,and the positions of fractures could be confirmed by vote method.After that,the genetic algorithm is used to choose the optimal parameters of none line fit for the points of sinusoid in image which presents the fracture of stratum.Through above steps,the fractures are automatically detected by the method.Practical imaging logging data application shows that this method has high picking up accuracy,and could meet the demand of practical imaging log interpretation.
