Development and Preparation Method of Phosphors for Color Plasma Display Panels(PDP)

Based on the performances of the present phosphors for color plasma display panels(PDP),it is showed that the low color purity of red-emitting phosphor((Y,Gd)BO3∶Eu3+),the inferior thermal stability of blue-emitting phosphor(BaMgAl10O17∶Eu2+) and the longer persistence of green-emitting phosphor(Zn2SiO4:Mn2+)are the most important defects.Preparation methods for PDP phosphors such as solid state reaction at a high temperature,sol-gel method,combustion synthesis method,co-precipitation method,microwave heating synthesis,hydro thermal method,spray hydrolysis and LHPG method have been discussed,and improvement measures are proposed.Future development of using nanotechnology in preparation of phosphors is prospected.
