Research and Implementation of EVRC Speech Coding Algorithm

To meet the needs of communication development for higher speech quality and greater system capacity, the third generation mobile communication systems, especially CDMA systems, employ variable rate speech coding technologies to obtain more flexibility This paper, starting with the principal concepts of speech coding, introduces the algorithm and implement of the enhanced variable rate codec (EVRC), with emphases on the characteristics of EVRC Some comparison with traditional CELP and other variable rate coding algorithms is also presented
