Cusp Catastrophe Model of Arch Dam Stability Based on Yield Volume Ratio

LI Jiqion · Water power · 2013

The cusp catastrophe model for analyzing the integral stability of arch dam is established based on catastrophe theory, in which, the yield volume ratio of dam body is taken as the index of dam stability evaluation to quantitatively calculate dam's state of stability. The case studies show that the yield volume ratio of dam body can reflect the integral stability behavior of arch dam and avoid the influences of artificial factors in other analysis methods. The evaluation result of this model is unique and agrees with the results of other evaluation methods.
